Helllooo! Welcome back to my blog I hope you are enjoying the new design!

I always adore photographing weddings. There’s so much love in the air and the bride and groom spent so much time carefully planning all the details. It was not any different for Rachelle & Michael’s wedding, either!

The wedding was at Snowshoe Mountain Ski Resort, the reception was at Soaring Eagle Lodge. They danced to their first song Young Forever by Jay-Z , which was played by DJ ,Greg Sanchez a DJ that really knew how to get a crowd involved!

A few more people that helped their wedding go off without a hitch was:

Wedding Planner: Janeth Hadlock

Where Dress was Purchased: The Little White Dress Shop

Florist: Cheryl Lang at “A Unique Flower & Gift Shop”

Everything was magic about this wedding, there was a snow/ice storm. And these two were seriously the sweetest people I have ever met. My favorite moments were just seeing how much their friends love being around them!

“We were in Taos, New Mexico on a snowboarding trip with some of our close friends. When we got to the Mountain, people were telling us how it had not snowed in a month there. As we were riding the ski lift up, it started snowing pretty hard. Michael had wiped out pretty bad and hurt his knee a couple runs before this so as he got down on his knee at the top of the mountain, I thought he was in serious pain and about to fall to the ground…when he pulled out a stunning rose gold ring and said “I’ve wanted to do this for a long time, will you please marry me?” I said “YES!” as we were strapped into our snowboards with the snow falling all around us “

When I asked Rachelle what her favorite part of the wedding was, she said:

“My favorite moments were having a first look with my dad and step dad, getting ready with my girlfriends and Taytum, and definitely dancing the night away with all of the people we love the most. Also…I just really loved our food.”

Whew! One thing’s for certain: Hosting a mini-session is seriously an honor and I have so much fun. Despite all the hard work that goes into planning, it always pays off in the end.

My most recent mini session day took place (when the session was) at MY STUDIO  The theme was Mama & Me and I had 4 Mama’s and 5 children come in within the event!

I loved being able to pamper these amazing ladies show them how beautiful they truly they are! And give them the chance to be IN the photos with their little ones!

Ms. Lauren Elaine came and pampered all these gorgeous Mamas! Her work speaks for itself!

All the Mamas and kiddos were very cooperative and I was really happy with the decor. I asked Ms. Caroline from Passiflora to come and design this gorgeous floral arrangement.  Visit her website here.

As you can see from the photos below, we all had a great time. I couldn’t have asked for a better turnout or experience! And it makes me excited for my next mini-session, too! Mama & Me Event 2/ Spring Minis!!!

Being a West Virginia Child Photographer I love to style sessions and I could not be more thrilled with how this one turned out. I think all the kiddos had a blast. Watching their little eyes light up at the set ups has to be one of the best parts of offering Styled Mini Sessions!

Baby lovers, today I have the distinct privilege of introducing you to baby Collin, who’s officially 10 days new!

WV Newborn Photographer | Ashly Collins Photography

I think we can all agree: His (characteristic – hair, cheeks, tummy, smile) should earn him a spot on the cover of every baby magazine in the nation! Seriously, I’m practically melting from cuteness overload!

Anyway, as you can see from the pictures below, Collin and I had one of the best sessions together. His mom, Leslie,

“I took the prep guide the photographer gave me very seriously. I held off feeding him for about three hours maybe even a little longer. I did a lot of things to keep him awake like gave him a long bath and played with him on my lap. I also made sure what he was wearing did not leave in indentions.”

Her preparation efforts allowed us to have an especially awesome shoot together.

Collin slept all the way through the three hour session. And when he wasn’t sleeping, Collin was so calm.  He couldn’t have been any better.

My experience was amazing. I was nervous about taking him since he was only 10 days old. I am a new mom and I was breast feeding. I worried he would not get enough to eat. I worried he would have a melt down and just cry the entire session. When I arrived to the studio I was able to feed him and everything just fell into place perfectly. The prep guide definitely worked and our experience could not have been better. Ashly had prepared the room to be warm and had a sound machine on. Collin was in heaven and Ashly was able to work her magic to get some beautiful shots.,” says Leslie.

Because the shoot went so well, I asked (mom’s name) if she would share one helpful piece of advice with other mothers planning a newborn session (See – I’ve got your back, moms around the world). Her biggest piece of advice is:

“My advice would be to definitely keep your baby awake as long as possible and hold off feeding them until you arrive to your photo shoot. If you have any concerns to talk about it with the photographer before your session. Once I talked to Ashly about my concerns of breast feeding and she reassured me we would figure it out I was more at ease with taking him. Also to go in with an open mind and let the photographer do their job.”

Without further adieu, Mr. Collin

Gather round, awesome blog readers!

Today’s post is all about a certain baby with the kind of chubby cheeks that will surely put a smile on your face. Baby G was so much fun to photograph and our session turned out so brilliantly!!!

West Virginia Newborn Photographer | Ashly Collins Photography

This particular session was a very special since Gemma’s parents, brought along a beautiful blanket Mama’s Sister had made for Gemma’s arrival. The item added a whole other level to our photo shoot and I love how it photographed, as well.

Gemma is so precious! She also loved the blanket so much that she gave me the biggest smile ever!. I couldn’t have asked for a better session!

You’ll see what I mean below!

Mama had this to say about the special blanket

“…brought a flower afghan blanket that my sister (Gemma’s aunt) crocheted for the baby. My sister made the afghan to match Gemma’s nursery. I wanted Gemma to see the blanket in the photos years from now and know that it was something she had since birth!”

What an extremely amazing thing for Gemma to see through the years <3

Were you nervous or worried before? How did it turn out?

“Overall it was a good experience and I am glad I went through with it. It worried me a little bit at first handing over my brand new baby and sitting back to watch, but you were so gentle and good with her. Gemma slept the entire time which made me feel good, because in the back of my mind I had visions of her screaming throughout the shoot!”

Thank you for letting me your west virginia newborn photographer,

XO

Ashly

I am a creative- in personality and mind, I thrive on chaos, love, and sunshine. I am working on finding that sweet balance of my love for home and wanderlust for exploring the world. I am known by many titles, photographer, daughter, sister, wife, and the sweetest of all mother. When I am not knee deep in some creative venture, we live in a small quiet home in Vienna, West Virginia where we are raising our two daughters. Or, possibly, the more accurate saying would be they are building a Mother and Father.
